The Force investigates Direct Marketing (DM) cases referred by the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD). On Apri1 1, new provisions and heavier penalties were introduced for DM offences. To enhance officers’ understanding and investigations of DM cases, Support Wing invited PCPD Chief Personal Data Officer, Mr Danny Leung, to conduct a seminar on DM cases for 190 crime officers on February 8. Mr Leung presented the issue in a lively way, helping officers grasp the essence of the new provisions. PCPD Senior Personal Data Officer, Mr Vincent Ng, joined Mr Leung at the question-and-answer session after the seminar. With the hands-on experience of Mr Ng in handling DM cases, officers had a fruitful exchange with the PCPD representatives on how to investigate DM cases. The Force will continue to work closely with PCPD to protect personal data privacy. |
