Acting Senior Superintendent Yau Siu-kei and Chief Inspector Tang Wing-tin, both from Liaison Bureau (LB), attended the 9th INTERPOL Annual Heads of National Central Bureau (NCB) Conference in Lyon, France, last month as part of the delegation from NCB China.

Leading the delegation was the Deputy Director of INTERPOL Division, NCB China, Mr Jiang Haifeng. Other members of the delegation included the contact officers from Hong Kong sub-bureau, Macao sub-bureau and Shenzhen Public Security Bureau.

A total of 280 delegates from 156 member countries attended the conference between April 17 and 19 to exchange good practices and share valuable information. The conference also served as a platform for enhancing international collaboration in fighting transnational organised crimes.

Two of the focuses of the conference were terrorist attacks and cyber crime. In the wake of the recent bombing incident in Boston, the conference emphasised the importance of getting well prepared and enhancing intelligence exchange on terrorism.

Mr Eugene Kaspersky, the Chief Executive Officer of a well-known Internet security company, delivered a keynote speech, outlining the global threat of cyber crime.

The conference delegates were also updated on the recent development of the INTERPOL Global Complex of Innovation (IGCI) in Singapore, completion of which is scheduled for September 2014.  The IGCI will offer an effective platform for INTERPOL member countries to further co-operate in tackling cyber crime.
