Eastern District (EDIST) has formed an Eastern District Working Group on Youth Crimes, which is chaired by the Deputy District Commander. In a bid to tackle youth crimes  with a multi-agency approach, EDIST has invited various organisations to sit in the working group, such as Education Bureau, Social Welfare Department, secondary schools, parent-teacher associations and outreaching service agencies. These working group members offer valuable suggestions to help EDIST thrash out strategies to deal with youth crimes.

The latest meeting of the working group was held in North Point Police Station on May 7, chaired by Deputy District Commander Ng Suk-fun. Attending the meeting were 40 members, including 30 secondary schools principals, deputy principals,  discipline masters and members from government departments and non-government organisations.

At the meeting, Chai Wan Divisional Commander, Li Hong-man, introduced the development, procedure and criteria of the Superintendent Discretion Scheme. Senior Inspector Tse Tsz-kwan briefed the group members on the current situation of triads. Afterward, School Liaison Officers conducted an experience sharing on the cases they handled in schools and introduced a new project known as "Blue Sky for Non-ethnic Chinese Teenagers".

Lastly, social workers from non-government organisations introduced their services for teenagers and students.
