Yuen Long District (YLDIST) Junior Police Call (JPC) rolled out a Muay Thai training programme on June 22 for promoting racial harmony and allowing JPC members to learn a new sport. With the sponsorship of the Yuen Long District Fight Crime Committee, the programme is free of charge and comprises 24 training sessions.

The other objectives of the programme are to enhance JPC members' physical fitness and behaviour, and strengthen the communication and understanding between local and Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) youngsters. It also offers an opportunity for JPC members to build up friendship with youngsters from different cultures and backgrounds. Narrowing their cultural gap and helping NEC youngsters overcome language barriers, integration between local and NEC youths would be enhanced for the benefit of racial harmony.

The programme attracted a total of 16 local and 10 NEC JPC members. Both local and NEC participants enjoy the physically demanding training and YLDIST JPC will organise other sports if necessary.
