Woman charged with infanticide

Police today (January 11) charged a 24-year-old Indonesian woman with one count of infanticide.

Officers of Eastern District Crime Squad arrested the woman yesterday (January 10) in connection with the death of a baby girl who was found lying on the podium on the second floor of Sau Fung House in Fung Wah Estate, Chai Wan.

The baby girl, attached with part of the umbilical cord, was certified dead at the scene by ambulancemen.

Police located the woman inside a flat in Sau Fung House and she was subsequently arrested for infanticide.

The charged woman will appear in Eastern Magistracies' Courts tomorrow (January 12).
