Man arrested for robbery in Kwun Tong

Police arrested a 33-year-old man in Kwun Tong yesterday (March 9) in suspected connection with four bank robberies occurred in the district since January this year.

On the morning of March 9, Police received a report that a man with a facemask was acting suspiciously in a bank on Yu Man Square. He was in a queue for teller service but left after waiting for a while.

After viewing the closed circuit television installed in the bank, the 33-year-old man was identified and was later arrested in Wo Lok Estate in Kwun Tong on the same day.

Further enquiries revealed that the arrested man was also in suspected connection with three other bank robbery cases with the same modus operandi to declare robbery by presenting a note to the tellers occurred in Kwun Tong recently. Among the three cases, $13,000 and $5,500 were robbed from two banks on Hong Ning Road on January 3 and Mut Wah Street on February 16 respectively while no loss was made in the third case occurred in Fu Yan Street on March 7.

The man has been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of attempted robbery today. He will appear in the Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (March 11).
