Police urge deception victims to come forward (with photos)

Police today (March 11) appealed to victims of street deceptions to come forward following the arrest of three women and a man in Tuen Mun yesterday (March 10).

At about 11.55 am yesterday, a 46-year-old female passer-by met three women on a path leading to Hing Wai House of Tai Hing Estate from Shek Pai Tau Road in Tuen Mun. One of the women, aged 51, asked if the passer-by knew a "spiritual bone-setter" but the passer-by ignored her.

When reaching outside Hing Wai House, the 51-year-old woman asked the passer-by the same question but the passer-by ignored her again. The three women then left.

Feeling suspicious, the passer-by made a report to Police.

Police officers sped to the scene and arrested three women and a man on Tai Hing Street near the junction of Shek Pai Tau Road and seized from them some ornaments.

The four arrestees, aged between 29 and 52 including two Mainland women, a local woman and a Mainland man, were charged with loitering with intent to commit an arrestable offence. They will appear in Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts on March 13 (Monday).

Police urged anyone who had fallen prey to street deception in Tuen Mun but did not report to Police to contact the District Crime Squad of Tuen Mun on 2456 5315 or Tuen Mun Police Station on 2456 5213.
