Appeal for information on abandoned baby boy (with photos)

Police are anxious to contact the next-of-kin of a baby boy who was found abandoned in North District Hospital last month (February).

At about 4.20 pm on February 28, Police received a report that a baby was found on the ground of a cubicle of a female toilet on the first floor of North District Hospital on Po Kin Road in Sheung Shui.

Police officers arrived at the scene and located the baby boy. Enquiries revealed that a woman embracing a baby was found hanging around at the corridor on the first floor of the hospital between 2 pm and 4 pm on the same day.

The baby, believed to be an Asian, is about one month old, 53 centimeters long and weighs about three kilograms. He was wearing a blue coat, yellow trousers, yellow overcoat and wrapped in a blue and pink blanket when found.

Investigation by the Miscellaneous Enquiries Sub-Unit of Sheung Shui are proceeding.

Police urged the parents, the next-of-kin or the guardians of the boy or anyone who knows them to contact the investigating officers on 2675 3316 or the Sheung Shui Police Station Report Room on 2675 3311.
