Update on open fire case in Tsim Sha Tsui

Police are investigating an open fire case in which a Police constable and a male suspect died and another Police constable seriously injured in Tsim Sha Tsui early this (March 17) morning.

The case came to light at about 1.15 am when Police console received a request for assistance from a patrolling officer at the junction of Canton Road and Austin Road.

Other Police officers sped to the scene and found two Police constables and a suspect sustaining gunshot wounds lying unconscious in a subway near Victoria Towers.

Three pistols, two belonged to two Police Constables and another of similar type to Police pistol were found at scene. Police officer also found some suspected Police document from the male suspect.

All the three injured men were rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) where the 33-year-old Police constable, sustaining injuries to his head, was certified dead at 1.47 am and the male suspect was also certified dead at 1.45 am.

The remaining 28-year-old Police constable, sustaining injuries to his face and legs, was admitted in QEH in critical condition.

Investigations by Organised Crime and Triad Bureau are proceeding.
