Drug trafficker sentenced to jail

A 16-year-old drug trafficker was sentenced to four years and nine months at the Court of First Instance this (April 4) morning.

Acting on intelligence, officers of Police Narcotics Bureau intercepted the 16-year-old man outside a hotel at 380 Nathan Road in Yau Ma Tei shortly before 9.30 am on October 25 last year.

Upon searches, officers found five packets containing 130 grams of a mixture containing 60 grams of heroin hydrochloride tucking inside his right sock.

Investigations revealed that the man carried the drug for a reward of $4,000. The haul could fetch over $43,000 in the retail market.

The man was charged with trafficking in dangerous drugs on October 26. He pleaded guilty to the charge on February 17 and was sentenced to four years and nine months today.
