Return of murder suspect from the Mainland

A 44-year-old man wanted in connection with a murder case in 1997 was returned by the Mainalnd Public Security officers to the Hong Kong Police (HKP) yesterday (May 2).

About 10.40 pm on December 17, 1997, a 44-year-old woman returned to a flat on No.112 - 118 Sha Tsui Road, Tsuen Wan and found her 25-year-old sister lying dead on the bed with a ligature on her neck. A report was subsequently made to the Police.

Initial enquiries revealed that her husband left to the Mainland on the morning of December 17, 1997. A dispute had aroused between him and the deceased earlier on the same day.

The Mainland Public Security officers located the suspect in Lo Wu on April 10 this year and returned him to HKP yesterday through Huanggang Boundary Control Point.

The suspect is still being detained by officers of the District Crime Squad of Tsuen Wan for further enquiries.
