Regional Traffic Day on Hong Kong Island

Police officers issued a total of 537 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and 24 summonses to road users violating traffic regulations during a two-day operation of the Regional Traffic Day on Hong Kong Island. The operation concluded at 8pm today (August 15) and a total of 176 officers from Traffic Hong Kong Island and District Traffic Teams of Eastern, Wan Chai, Central and Western were deployed to enforce traffic regulations at traffic black sites on Hong Kong Island. A total of 319 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and 218 for other traffic offences. One hundred and ninety-four pedestrians and 214 drivers were cautioned for committing minor traffic offences. Meanwhile, pamphlets and leaflets on road safety were also distributed to road users. Statistics revealed that a total of 1,695 traffic accidents involving casualties occurred on Hong Kong Island in January to July this year.
