$8 million stolen electronic parts recovered in Yuen Long

Police today (August 24) cracked down on a high-valued goods theft syndicate following the arrest of seven persons and recovered $8 million worth of stolen electronic components in Yuen Long.

In view of an increase in the number of theft and robbery cases involving high-valued goods in the New Territories South region during recent months, officers of the Regional Crime Unit of New Territories South (RCU/NTS) conducted an extensive investigation and identified a target syndicate.

In-depth analysis revealed that the target syndicate would steal a medium goods van (MGV) in Kwai Chung today. At about 12.20 pm, ambushing officers found three men stealing a MGV parked at the roadside on Kwai Ting Road and later driving the MGV towards Yuen Long.

The officers intercepted the MGV when it entered a godown on Tan Kwai Tsuen Road in Yuen Long at about 2 pm and arrested seven men, including a man believed to be the mastermind of the syndicate, inside the godown.

Different types of electronics components, worth some $8 million, were found inside the stolen MGV.

The seven men, aged between 23 and 39, were arrested for conspiracy of theft of high-valued goods, are still being detained for enquiries.
