Man arrested for dangerous driving causing death

Police today (September 25) arrested a 56-year-old man in connection with a fatal traffic accident in Sheung Shui on September 21.

At about 6 am on that day, a 73-year-old woman was killed on Castle Peak Road near Kwu Tung after she was reportedly knocked down by a taxi, which did not stop after the accident.

After extensive investigation into information provided by the public, the man was arrested in a premises at Fairview Park in Yuen Long at 10.35 am today. A taxi believed to be in connection with the case was also located at scene.

The man was arrested for dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop after an accident and failing to report after an accident. He was still being detained for enquiries.

Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of New Territories North are proceeding.
