Seven persons nets for possession of imitation firearm (with photos)

Police arrested five men and two women for possession of imitation firearm and ammunition in Yau Ma Tei today (October 28).

Acting on information, officers of Regional Crime Unit, Kowloon East intercepted two men, aged 31 and 34, inside an amusement game centre in Nathan Road, Yau Ma Tei at 9.50 am this morning.

An air pistol was found inside the shoulder bag of one the males and both men were arrested for possession of imitation firearm.

In a follow-up investigation, the officers raided another premises in Reclamation Street, Yau Ma Tei at about 1 pm. A quantity of offensive weapons, including five machetes, a sickle knife, and a wooden pole were found inside the unit.

The officers also seized an air pistol, one toy gun, and one simulated grenade containing flash powder at scene.

Three men, aged between 24 and 50, and two women, aged 19 and 17, were arrested by the officers for possession of ammunition and possession of instrument fit and intended for unlawful purpose inside the premises.

Investigation revealed that all the arrested persons were believed to have triad background and they were being detained for further enquiries.

The seized imitation firearm and ammunition would be sent to the Forensic Firearms Examination Bureau for examination.
