Appeal for Witnesses of a Death Report

Police are appealing for information after a 26-year-old man was fallen from an escalator in a Mong Kok Threatre in December last year and later died at hospital.

At about 12.30am on December 27, 2006, Police received a report that a man was lying unconscious on the 6/F escalator area of a threatre at No. 6-12 Sai Yeung Choi Street South in Mong Kok. He was rescued and rushed to hospital where he was certified dead at 1.59pm on December 29, 2006.

After extensive investigations, it was believed that the man slipped off from the 8/F escalator and landed on the 6/F escaulator area. His mobile phone was fallen out from his coat and an unknown woman eventually picked it up after the incident and left scene.

Investigations by the Miscellaneous Enquiry Support Unit, Mong Kok District are underway.

Anyone who might have witnessed the accident, especially the woman who had picked up the deceased's phone, is urged to contact the investigating officers on 2398 6393.
