Police arrested a man for trafficking in dangerous drugs

Police arrested a 55-year-old man for trafficking in dangerous drugs following the seizure of about $2.4 million worth of suspected cocaine in the airport yesterday (February 21).

Following extensive investigations, officers of the Narcotics Bureau mounted an anti-dangerous drugs operation at about 1.15 pm yesterday when police officers intercepted a man who was coming out from the arrival gate. Upon a search, six slabs weighing a total of 2.75 kilograms of suspected cocaine concealed inside a false compartment of the suitcase were found in the man's possession.

The haul could fetch about $2.4 million in the retail market.

The man was arrested and subsequently charged with one count for trafficking in dangerous drugs. He will appear in Tsuen Wan Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (February 23).
