Fatal crash in Kwai Chung

Police are investigating a traffic accident in Kwai Chung this (May 21) afternoon in which a 43-year-old woman was killed.

Shortly before 12.45 pm, a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 28-year-old man was travelling along Tai Wo Hau Road downslope towards Texaco Road. On reaching the junction with Shek Tau Street, the driver applied a brake due to the traffic condition, the LGV reportedly sideturned to the left and fell onto the lower part of body of a 43-year-old female pedestrian.

After the impact, the woman was trapped by the LGV, she was rescued by the firemen and was sent to Princess Margaret Hospital for treatment where she was certified dead at 2.30 pm.

Investigations by Special Investigation Team, Traffic New Territories South are underway. Police arrested the 28-year-old male driver for dangerous driving causing death.
