Police seized $10.1 million worth of Cannabis

Police arrested a 36-year-old man for trafficking in dangerous drugs following the seizure of 195 kilograms of suspected Cannabis in an operation yesterday (June 1).

Following intensive investigations into a local drug trafficking syndicate, Police Narcotics Bureau officers mounted an operation and arrested a 36-year-old man at No. 2 Tat Wan Road in Tai Po at about 5 pm yesterday (June 1). He was brought back to a stone hut adjacent to No.18A Sun Uk Ka Tsuen in Sheung Wun Yiu where a total of 195 slabs of vacuum-packed cannabis herbs weighed one kilogram each were found in the hut.

The seizure could fetch some $10.1 million in the retail market.

Police believed to have smashed a major drug syndicate which shipped cannabis into Hong Kong from Cambodia for distribution to meet the local market demand.

The 36-year-old man will be charged with two counts of trafficking in dangerous drugs and he will appear in Fanling Magistrates' Courts on Monday (June 4).
