Body found case reclassified as homicide

Police this afternoon (June 26) reclassified a dead body found case in which a body was found being dumped inside a suitcase in Stanley last evening (June 25).

The case came to light at about 7 pm when a caretaker reported to Police that odd smell was emerging from a manhole near a catchments on Wong Ma Kok Road, Stanley.

Police arrived at the scene and discovered a badly decomposed body was being dumped inside a suitcase and placed inside the manhole.

No identity document was found from her. Initial enquiries revealed that the woman is a medium build woman.

A post mortem conducted on the deceased today cannot ascertain her cause of death. Futher toxicological examinations will be carried out.

Investigations by Regional Crime Unit of Hong Kong Island are underway.
