Traffic arrangements for public meeting and parade on July 1 (with map)
Police will implement special traffic arrangements to facilitate a public meeting at the Happy Valley Recreation Ground started at 10 am followed by a parade to march off from the recreation ground on July 1 (Sunday).
A. Road closure
The following roads will be closed from 8 am until 3 pm:
1) A section of westbound leftmost lane of Man Kwong Street between Man Yiu street and Man Chiu Street; and
2) A section of eastbound leftmost lane of Man Kwong Street between Man Yiu Street and Man Chiu Street.
The following roads will be closed from 10 am until 3 pm:
3) A section of southbound Morrison Hill Road between Sports Road and Queen's Road East; and
4) A section of southbound Morrison Hill Road between Leighton Road and Sports Road towards Happy Valley and Aberdeen.
The following roads will be closed from 11 am until 3 pm:
5) A section of westbound Leighton Road between Canal Road East and Wong Nai Chung Road will be closed and reverted from westbound to eastbound traffic;
6) A section of westbound Leighton Road (underneath Canal Road Flyover) between Canal Road East and Morrison Hill Road;
7) A section of southbound Morrison Hill Road between Leighton Road and Queen's Road East;
8) A section of northbound Morrison Hill Road between Sung Tak Street and Tin Lok Lane;
9) A section of northbound Tin Lok Lane between Wanchai Road and Hennessy Road;
10) A section of westbound Hennessy Road between Tin Lok Lane and Fenwick Street;
11) A section of northbound Lee Garden Road between Hennessy Road and Kai Chiu Road;
12) A section of westbound Wanchai Road between Tin Lok Lane and Tak Yun Street; and
13) A section of northbound Johnston Road between Thomson Road and Hennessy Road.
B. Traffic diversion
The following roads will be closed from 10 am onwards:
1) Traffic along Canal Road East proceeding to Happy Valley area and Aberdeen Tunnel will be prohibited and must turn left onto Sports Road or Leighton Road.
The following roads will be closed from 11 am onwards:
2) Traffic along Canal Road East proceeding to northbound Morrison Hill Road will be prohibited and must turn left onto Leighton Road westbound or go straight onto Sports Road;
3) Traffic along northbound Morrison Hill Road will be diverted onto Sung Tak Street or Canal Road West;
4) Traffic along southbound Morrison Hill Road proceeding to Happy Valley area must turn left onto Leighton Road westbound and then Wong Nai Chung Road southbound;
5) Traffic along southbound Stewart Road will be prohibited to turn right onto westbound Hennessy Road;
6) Traffic along northbound Fleming Road will be prohibited to turn left onto westbound Hennessy Road;
7) Traffic along Fleming Road southbound will be prohibited to turn right onto westbound Hennessy Road;
8) All traffic along westbound Hennessy Road must turn right onto Marsh Road;
9) All franchised buses travelling along westbound Hennessy Road must turn left onto southbound Canal Road (Service Road) (underneath Canal Road Flyover); and
10) Traffic along eastbound Wanchai Road will not be allowed to turn right into Tak Yan Street between 11 am and 3 pm.
C. Suspension of bus stops and tram stops
The following bus stop and tram stop will be suspended from 8 am to 12 noon:
1) The bus stop outside 67-79, southbound Wong Nai Chung Road will be suspended; and
2) The tram stop outside 73, southbound Wong Nai Chung Road will be suspended.
The following bus stop and tram stop will be suspended from 10 am to 3 pm:
3) All bus stops at southbound Morrison Hill Road between Sports Road and Queen's Road East will be suspended.
The following bus stop and tram stop will be suspended from 11 am to 3 pm:
4) The bus stop at northbound Morrison Hill Road near Yan Tak Lane will be suspended.
The following bus stop and tram stop will be suspended from 11 am onwards:
5) All bus stops along the closed roads are to be suspended; and
6) The bus stop at eastbound Leighton Road opposite to Craigengower Cricket Club will be suspended.
D. Suspension of taxi stand
1) The taxi stand on eastbound Sung Tak Street will be suspended between 11 am and 3 pm.
E. Suspension of parking meters, motorcycle parking spaces and lay-by:
1) The metered parking space at Wong Nai Chung Road near the Infield Entrance with the lay-by will be suspended between 6 am and 3 pm;
2) The metered parking space at Wong Nai Chung Road opposite to the St. Paul's Primary Catholic School with the lay-by will be suspended between 6 am and 3 pm; and
3) All metered parking spaces along Oi Kwan Road including motorcycle parking spaces will be suspended between 8 am and 3 pm.
F. Passenger alighting arrangements
There will be five designated pick-up points for coaches in Wanchai area to facilitate the dispersal of the parade from Southorn Playground. The parking meters, loading zone, unloading zone and lay-by along the pick-up points mentioned below will be suspended between 10 am and 3 pm.
- The pick-up points for coaches will be:
a) A section of leftmost lane of southbound Fenwick Street between Johnston Road and Hennessy Road, and eastbound Johnston Road between Fenwick Street and Luard Road;
b) A section of leftmost lane of northbound Luard Road between Hennessy Road and Johnston Road;
c) A section of leftmost lane of eastbound Johnston Road between Fleming Road and Hennessy Road;
d) A section of leftmost lane of westbound Lockhart Road between Luard Road and Arsenal Street; and
e) A section of westbound inner Gloucester Road between Luard Road and Arsenal Street.
G. Suspension of Crossing
1) The crossing at Wong Nai Chung Road near Sing Woo Road will be suspended between 8 am and 12 noon.
The following special traffic arrangement may be implemented from 11.30 am onwards if necessary:
A. Road closure
1) A section of northbound Morrison Hill Road between Queen's Road East and Leighton Road;
2) A section of Canal Road West between Sharp Street West and Hennessy Road;
3) A section of Wanchai Road between Morrison Hill Road and Bowrington Street;
4) A section of Bowrington Street between Sharp Street West and Hennessy Road;
5) Irving Street (except Franchised Buses and Green Mini-buses); and
6) Jardines Bazaar.
B. Road diversion
1) Traffic along northbound Morrison Hill Road may be diverted onto Canal Road flyover or Sung Tak Street;
2) Traffic along Queen's Road East may be diverted onto Canal Road Flyover;
3) Traffic along Wanchai Road must turn right onto southbound Morrison Hill Road;
4) Traffic along Causeway Road may be prohibited to enter Irving Street and may be diverted onto westbound Leighton Road except for Franchised Buses; and
5) Traffic along northbound Pennington Street may be prohibited to turn left onto Jardines Bazaar and must turn right onto eastbound Yee Wo Street.
