Appointment of Auxiliary Police Deputy Commandant

The Chief Executive has approved the appointment of Mr James Yiu Yeung-lung as the Deputy Commandant of the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force. The appointment has taken effect from July 5, 2007.

Mr Yiu is 52 years old, married with two children. He is the managing director of a local capital management consultancy firm.

Mr Yiu joined the Auxiliary Police as a Constable in June 1976, and was promoted to Superintendent (Aux) in December 1988 and to the rank of Chief Superintendent (Aux) in February 2003.

Before the appointment as Deputy Commandant, Mr Yiu has been serving as the Chief Superintendent (Aux), Hong Kong Island Region for four years and six months.

In view of his long and meritorious service with the Auxiliary Police Force throughout the years, Mr Yiu was awarded the Long Service Medal for Auxiliary Police in 1997 and First Clasp in 2001. He was awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service on July 1, 2007.
