Appeal for information on fatal traffic accident in Sheung Shui

Police today (July 23) appealed to the public to provide information on a fatal traffic accident in which a 71-year-old man was killed in Sheung Shui on July 16.

At about 7.30 pm, a passer-by found the 71-year-old man lying consciously under a bicycle in a field near a village path at No. 19 Hung Leng Sai Tsuen in Sheung Shui. A report was then made by the passer-by’s family member. The man was sent to the North District Hospital where he was certified dead at 8.17 pm on the same day.

Initial enquiries believed that the man was riding the bicycle along the village path heading towards Ping Che Road and lost control on arrival at the scene. He then fell to his left and plunged onto the field below the kerb of the path.

Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North are proceeding.

Anyone who might have witnessed the accident or has any information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers at 2455 4224 or 2455 4221.
