Man arrested in connection with Tai Po death

A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 48-year-old woman in Tai Po this morning (September 11).

About 12.40 am, a 23-year-old man reported to the Police that he had found his mother lying unconscious inside the bedroom of their flat in Shin Nga House of Fu Shin Estate.

Police went to the flat and located the woman who was subsequently confirmed dead by ambulancemen at scene.

A 27-year-old man surrendered himself at Ma On Shan Police Station about 10 am.

Initial investigations revealed that the man, who was the woman's boyfriend, allegedly had a dispute with the woman in the afternoon of September 8 during which they had a struggle in the sitting room. It is believed the woman was attacked by the man and she lost consciousness. The man then allegedly moved the woman to the bedroom and left.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted tomorrow (September 12) to ascertain the cause of her death.

The 27-year-old man was arrested and will be detained overnight for further inquiries.

Investigations by District Crime Squad of Tai Po are continuing.
