Marine Police seize contraband products worth $23 million

Marine Police have seized a large quantity of computer products worth $23 million. The seizures were made in an anti-smuggling operation in Tai Po areas yesterday (September 22).

About 5pm yesterday, officers of Marine Outer Waters District and Marine North Division carrying out anti-smuggling operation spotted a group of people unloading goods from two light goods vehicles onto some speedboats at Sam Mun Tsai. Meanwhile, another group of people were also being spotted unloading goods from a light goods vehicle to some speedboats in Yuen Chau Tsai. All people at the two locations fled in the speedboats when they saw police officers, leaving the three vehicles.

A total of 455 boxes of contraband electronic products including computer hard disks, semiconductors, integrated circuits and LCD monitors worth $23million were seized.

The cases have been handed over to the Customs and Excise Department for further investigation.
