Traffic arrangements for flag raising ceremony on National Day

Police will implement special traffic arrangements in the vicinity of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre Phase II (HKCEC II) for the rehearsal for the Flag Raising Ceremony on Sunday (September 30) and the National Day Flag Raising Ceremony on October 1.

(A) Traffic arrangement for rehearsal for the Flag Raising ceremony on September 30

The rehearsal for the flag raising ceremony will be held at the HKCEC II at 8am. The following special traffic arrangements to regulate traffic and maintain a smooth traffic flow throughout the rehearsal between 6am and 1pm on September 30 will be implemented:

(1) Road Closure

A section of Expo Drive East north of Expo Drive will be closed to vehicular traffic. Traffic on Expo Drive will be maintained but will intermittently be held up when the parade is marching in and out of the waterfront promenade and Golden Bauhinia Square.

(2) Suspension of Bus Terminus and Taxi Stand

The bus terminus and taxi stand on Expo Drive East will be suspended. Bus Routes No 973A, 961, 25A will terminate at Wan Chai Ferry Pier Bus Terminus.

(3) Suspension of Parking Spaces

Eight coach metered parking spaces on Expo Drive East will be suspended.

(B) Traffic arrangement for the National Day Flag Raising Ceremony on October 1

The Flag Raising Ceremony will be held at the HKCEC II at 8am. The following special traffic arrangements to regulate traffic and maintain a smooth traffic flow throughout the ceremony will be implemented:

(1) Road Closure

(a) Expo Drive, Expo Drive Central and Expo Drive East will be closed to all vehicular traffic between 6am and 11am on October 1, except for authorised vehicles;

(b) A section of eastbound Convention Avenue between Expo Drive and Expo Drive East will be closed between 6am and 11am on October 1; and

(c) Harbour Drive will be closed to vehicular traffic between 7am and 10am on October 1, except for coaches conveying community groups or uniformed groups attending the flag raising ceremony and vehicles going in and out of the car park in the buildings along Harbour Drive.

(2) Traffic Diversions

(a) Vehicles on eastbound Expo Drive or Expo Drive Central must turn right into southbound Expo Drive East between 6am and 11am on October 1, except for authorised vehicles;

(b) Vehicles on left first lane of eastbound Fenwick Pier Street can proceed only to Expo Drive or Expo Drive Central between 6am and 11am on October 1; and

(c) Subject to prevailing traffic situation, all vehicles coming from southbound Expo Drive East will be diverted to turn left to eastbound Convention Avenue at any time between 6am and 11am on October 1.

(3) Suspension of Bus Terminus, Taxi Stand and Public Light Bus Stand

(a) The bus terminus on Expo Drive East will be suspended between midnight on September 30 and 11am on October 1;

(b) The taxi stand on Expo Drive East will be suspended between midnight on September 30 and 11am on October 1;

(c) The taxi stand in westbound Harbour Road between Harbour Drive and Fleming Road will be suspended between 7am and 10am on October 1; and

(d) The taxi stand and public light bus stand adjacent to Wan Chai Ferry Pier Bus Terminus will be suspended between 6am and 11am on October 1.

(4) Suspension of Parking Spaces

(a) Eight metered parking spaces in Expo Drive East will be suspended between 10pm on September 30 and 11am on October 1; and

(b) The public bus parking spaces on Expo Drive East will be suspended between midnight on September 30 and 11am on October 1.

Any vehicles found illegally parked within the precinct of the special traffic arrangement will be towed away without prior notice. People are encouraged to use public transport.
