Two women die in Tseung Kwan O accident

Police are investigating a traffic accident in Tseung Kwan O yesterday (December 14) in which twenty-one people were injured and two of them subsequently died.

At about 11.50pm yesterday, a bus driven by a 60-year-old man was travelling along Po Yap Road eastbound, while another bus driven by a 29-year-old man was travelling along Po Shun Road southbound. At the junction of Po Yap Road and Po Shun Road, two buses collided.

Both drivers and 19 passengers on the buses sustained injuries. Nine men and nine women were sent to Tseung Kwan O Hospital and a man and two women were taken to United Christian Hospital for medical treatment.

Among the injured persons, a 53-year-old female passenger was certified dead at 0.21am today (December 15) before arriving Tseung Kwan O Hospital; and a 34-year-old female passenger was certified dead at 0.38am at United Christian Hospital.

Investigations by the Special Investigation Team, Traffic Kowloon East, are proceeding.
