Fatal traffic accident in Happy Valley

    Police are investigating a traffic accident in Happy Valley this morning (January 3) in which a 92-year-old man was killed.

     About 6am, a light goods vehicle driven by a 69-year-old man was travelling west on Causeway Road.  On approaching the Hong Kong Central Library, the vehicle hit the 92-year-old man who was crossing the road.

     He sustained head injuries and was taken to Ruttonjee Hospital where he was certified dead at 6.21am.

     The driver was later arrested for dangerous driving causing death.  He is still being detained for enquiries.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island are underway.
