Fatal traffic accident in Tai Po

     Police are investigating a traffic accident in Tai Po this morning (January 14) in which a 13-year-old girl was injured and later died in hospital.

     About 0.40am, a private car driven by a 22-year-old man was travelling along Bride's Pool Road towards Tai Po.  On approaching Chung Mei, the vehicle lost control, hit a lamppost on the roadside and eventually bounced back to the carriageway.

     The driver and two 13-year-old female passengers in rear seat sustained injuries and were taken to Alice Ho Nethersole Hospital (AHNH) for medical treatment. One of the passengers was later transferred to Prince of Wales Hospital and certified dead at 11.13am. The driver and another passenger were admitted in AHNH in stable and critical conditions respectively.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team, Traffic New Territories North are proceeding.
