Police seize contraband products worth $2.4 million

     Police yesterday (January 16) arrested a man in Lantau North and seized a large quantity of computer hard disks worth $2.4 million.
	
     Officers of Marine West Division and Lantau District on an anti-smuggling operation spotted people unloading goods from two light goods vehicles onto two speedboats at a beach near Pak Mong about 10.40pm.  When police officers swooped, the speedboats took off and those unloading the vehicles fled. Police seized the good vehicles and arrested the man.  

     A total of 137 boxes of computer hard disks worth $2.4 million were seized.

     The 20-year-old man, who was arrested for allegedly assisting in the export of unmanifested cargo, was released on bail pending further enquiries.  The case will be handed over to the Customs and Excise Department for further action.
