Fatal traffic accident in North Point

    Police are investigating a traffic accident in North Point this afternoon (January 26) in which a woman was killed.

     About 12.30pm, a medium goods vehicle driven by a 50-year-old man was travelling east along Java Road. On reaching outside No. 22, Java Road, the vehicle hit an 84-year-old woman who was crossing the road.

The woman sustained leg injuries and was taken to the Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital where she was certified dead at 2.18pm.

The driver was later arrested for dangerous driving causing death.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team, Traffic Hong Kong Island, are proceeding.
