Fatal traffic accident in North Point

Police are investigating a traffic accident in North Point this afternoon (February 19) in which a 78-year-old woman was killed.

About 4.30pm, a coach driven by a 51-year-old man was travelling downhill Fortress Hill Road. On reaching outside No. 14 of Fortress Hill Road, the coach hit the woman who was crossing the road. 

Sustaining serious injuries, the woman was rushed to Ruttonjee Hospital where she was certified dead at 7.21pm.

The coach driver was later arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.

Investigations by the Special Investigation Team, Traffic Hong Kong Island are under way.
