Man arrested in connection with Wan Chai death

     A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 62-year-old woman in Wan Chai this morning (February 26).

     About 12.40am, a 49-year-old security guard told Police that when he was carrying a patrol at No. 9 Star Street, he had found a woman collapsed inside a flat.

	 When Police arrived, they found the woman lying unconscious inside the bedroom of the flat and seized a chopper.  The woman was subsequently certified dead at the scene.  

	 Police then located a 36-year-old man at the staircase.

     Initial investigations revealed that the man, who was the woman's son, attacked his mother with a chopper.  

     A post-mortem examination will be conducted today (February 26) to ascertain the cause of her death.

     The man was arrested and will be detained for further inquiries.

     Investigations by District Crime Squad of Wan Chai are under way.
