Fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi

Police are investigating a traffic accident in Tsing Yi this morning (March 5) in which a 52-year-old man was killed.

     A 50-year-old driver going to pick up his medium goods vehicle at Container Terminal 8 about 10.15am told police that a man was trapped between his vehicle and a tractor.

     The man, 52, was trapped between the door and body of the tractor and had to be freed by firemen.  He was certified dead at the scene.  

     Initial investigations revealed that the man was the driver of the tractor.  It is thought that the tractor suddenly skidded forward and slammed into the medium goods vehicle.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South, are under way.
