Man jailed for attempted theft ****************************** A 26-year-old man who was charged with attempted theft and conspiracy to steal has been jailed for 33 months. The District Court heard that the man was found withdrawing money from an automatic teller machine (ATM) on Kwun Tong Road with some suspected fake ATM cards on October 3 2007. When Police arrived, 20 suspected fake ATM cards, $14,300 in cash and 14 ATM transaction slips were found in his possession. Officers of the Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) took over the case for further enquiries and discovered that the cards were each encoded with overseas bank accounts and a four-digit personal identification number. Investigation also revealed that the man had attempted to withdraw money from ATMs in various districts between September and October last year.
