Regional Traffic Day on Hong Kong Island **************************************** Police officers issued a total of 334 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and seven summonses to road users violating traffic regulations during a two-day operation of the Regional Traffic Day on Hong Kong Island. The operation concluded at 7pm today (May 20) and a total of 186 officers from Traffic Hong Kong Island and District Traffic Teams of Eastern, Wan Chai, Central and Western were deployed to enforce traffic regulations at traffic black sites on Hong Kong Island. A total of 249 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and 85 for other traffic offences. Forty-eight pedestrians and 142 drivers were cautioned for committing minor traffic offences. Meanwhile, pamphlets and leaflets on road safety were also distributed to road users. Statistics revealed that a total of 1,068 traffic accidents involving casualties occurred on Hong Kong Island from January to April 2008.
