Appeal for information on robbery in Kwai Chung (with photos) *********************************************** Police have appealed to the public for information on a robbery last month (May) in which $4.24 million worth of electronic components were stolen in Kwai Chung. About 2.20pm on May 20, a medium goods vehicle (MGV) with 252 cartons of electronic "triode" components was travelling along Tai Lin Pai Road. Near Tai Lin Pai Road Playground, the MGV was intercepted by a light goods vehicle (LGV). A man from the LGV approached the 51-year-old MGV driver and threatened him by pointing a hard object at his waist. The MGV driver was forced to the back seat where his hands were tied and his head faced downward. The assailant then drove the MGV to an unknown place to unload the goods before abandoning it on Tsing Yi Road. The MGV driver managed to free himself and found all of the goods missing. He then made a report to police. The estimated value of the stolen electronic components was $4.24 million. Investigations by Regional Crime Unit of the New Territories South are proceeding. Anyone who might have witnessed the incident or who has information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers at 3661 1235. Police also reminded the public that if someone offered them "triodes" of dubious origins they should report it to the investigating officers or any police station.
