Regional Traffic Day on Hong Kong Island **************************************** Police officers issued a total of 393 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and 41 summonses to road users violating traffic regulations during a two-day operation of the Regional Traffic Day on Hong Kong Island. The operation concluded at 7pm today (June 17) and a total of 178 officers from Traffic Hong Kong Island and District Traffic Teams of Eastern, Wan Chai, Central and Western were deployed to enforce traffic regulations at traffic black sites on Hong Kong Island. A total of 254 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and 139 for other traffic offences. Forty-six pedestrians and 186 drivers were cautioned for committing minor traffic offences. Meanwhile, pamphlets and leaflets on road safety were also distributed to road users. Statistics revealed that a total of 1,308 traffic accidents involving casualties occurred on Hong Kong Island from January to May 2008.
