Swift Police action save kidnap victim ************************************** Police strenuous efforts have led to the rescue of a seven-year-old boy who was kidnapped yesterday (June 19) and the arrested of five men and one woman in connection with the case last night. The case occurred at about 7 am yesterday morning when the boy was adducted by a man and a woman while waiting for his school bus in Sai Kung area. At around midday the same day, the boy's father received a phone call, demanding a ransom of $200,000 for the safe return of his son. The father reported the case to Police immediately and the Regional Crime Unit, Kowloon East (RCU/KE) took up the case for investigation. Following extensive enquiries, RCU KE officers intercepted a private car at Lin Cheung Road junction with Tonkin Street West in the evening and arrested four Pakistani men, aged between 18 and 21 on board the vehicle. The seven-year-old boy, with his hands and legs being tied up, was rescued from the boot of the private car. After further investigation, RCU/KE officers arrested one more 30-year-old Pakistani man and a 26-year-old woman in Cheung Sha Wan area in the small hours this (June 20) morning. All the six arrested people were still under detained for further investigation. The victim sustained no injury and no ransom was paid in the incident.
