Appeal for information on baby body found case (with photos)

Police are appealing for information on a case in which the body of a baby boy was found in Tsz Wan Shan this morning (August 5).

About 9.30am, a man found the body of a baby at the hill slope near a football pitch at Wong Tai Sin Service Reservoir Playground on Shatin Pass Road and immediately reported the case to the Police.

Police officers sped to the scene and located the body of the baby boy. The naked baby, with an umbilical cord, was wrapped in a white towel and placed inside an orange shoebox. The shoebox was in turn put inside a black plastic bag.

Initial examination revealed that the baby was about one week old and the body has started to decompose.

A post-mortem will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of the baby's death.

Investigations by Regional Crime Unit of Kowloon East are proceeding.

Police appeal to next-of-kin of the baby boy and members of the public who may have information to offer to contact the investigating officers on 2767 1464 or 9886 0065. Any taxi drivers who may have taken people suspected to be connected with the case to the scene are also urged to contact the investigating officers as soon as possible.
