Five persons summonsed for ticket scalping activities

Police summonsed two men and three women for ticket scalping offences relating to the unauthorised selling of Olympic Equestrian Event tickets in an operation mounted since yesterday (August 5).

Officers of the Technology Crime Division (TCD) of Commercial Crime Bureau mounted an operation against online ticket scalping activities starting from yesterday. Two men, aged 25 and 34, and three women aged between 28 and 31 were contacted to sell the Olympic Equestrian Event tickets to the officers of the TCD in Lam Tin, Central District, Tsing Yi, Kowloon Tong and Mongkok respectively. They were subsequently summonsed for unauthorised selling of Olympic Equestrian Event tickets. So far, 42 related tickets were seized during the operation.

The operation is on-going and TCD is keeping a close watch on any online ticket scalping activities and will strictly enforce the law.

Police remind members of the public today (August 6) that under Section 6 of the Places of Public Entertainment Ordinance (Cap. 172), it is an offence to sell or offer for sale any ticket at a price exceeding the amount fixed by the organiser. Any person who found guilty on the offence will be liable on summary conviction to a fine of $2,000.
