Force deeply grieved by the death of Police Constable in traffic accident

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Tang King-shing, was deeply grieved by the death of Police Constable, Mr So Chi-ho, during a traffic accident while on duty today (August 9) and extended condolences to Mr So's family.

About 7.55pm, a police motorcycle driven by Mr So was travelling northbound on Kwu Tung Road in Lok Ma Chau. While approaching near a construction site of Europa Garden, it was suspected that he lost control and lay unconscious on the ground.

Sustaining serious injuries, he was sent to North District Hospital for medical treatment but was later certified dead at 8.28pm.

Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North are proceeding.

The Force Welfare Services Group have been in touch with Mr So's family and would make every effort to help his family during this time of sadness.

Mr So, aged 31, joined the Force in 2000. He was attached to the Enforcement and Control Division of Traffic Kowloon West and had all along shown great enthusiasm for his work and was highly responsible. He was survived by his wife.
