Man arrested for dangerous driving causing death

Police arrested a 43-year-old man in connection with a fatal traffic accident in Cheung Sha Wan today (August 10).

About 6am, a private car driven by the man was travelling along Ching Cheung Road towards Wong Tai Sin. On reaching near Butterfly Valley Road, the private car lost control and hit a road sign and a lamppost after dashing against the central divider. It subsequently went across the opposite lane and crashed into a taxi travelling on the opposite direction.

The 51-year-old male taxi driver and the 35-year-old male taxi passenger were certified dead at the scene by ambulancemen, while the male private car driver and his 27-year-old female passenger were injured and were sent to Princess Margaret Hospital for medical treatment.

After extensive investigation, the private car driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He is still admitted in the hospital for medical treatment.

Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic Kowloon West are proceeding.
