Police appeal for information on Kowloon City traffic accident

Police today (August 13) appealed for information about a traffic accident in Kowloon City on August 1, in which a 47-year-old man who was seriously injured later died in hospital.

About 12.25am, a taxi driven by a 47-year-old man was travelling along Princess Margaret Road towards Sha Tin. At Wing On Court, the taxi hit the 47-year-old man who was involved in roadworks and standing behind a light goods vehicle parked at scene.

The man was trapped between the taxi and the light goods vehicle. He had to be rescued by fireman and was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he was certified dead at 10.02pm the next day (August 2).

The taxi driver and a male taxi passenger also sustained injuries and were taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for medical treatment.

The taxi-driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Investigations by the Special Investigation Team, Traffic Kowloon West, are proceeding.
