Police warn against making bomb hoax
********************************

Police today (August 15) reiterate that the rule of law, which is the cornerstone for the stability of Hong Kong, must be respected by all citizens.

A Police spokesman gave a stern warning against any person making a bomb hoax and confirmed that a suspicious object found case was reported in Tiu Keng Leng Mass Transit Railway (MTR) Station this afternoon.

At 3.05pm, Police received a report from the MTR Corporation that a suspicious object was found inside a compartment of an empty train in Tiu Keng Leng MTR Station. The object was wrapped in two plastic bags. Inside the bags was a threatening note and some magazines.

For safety sake, the train was swiftly driven to the Kowloon Bay Depot for police investigation. Officers of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Bureau were deployed to the scene and conducted a controlled disruption of the object which was in fact a hoax bomb. Neither explosive nor harmful substance was found.

"Though it is believed that the case is also a mischief, every effort will be rendered to investigate all reported cases thoroughly and bring to justice those responsible to face the consequences of the law," said the spokesman, adding that such criminal acts were strongly condemned by the community.
