Fatal traffic accident in Yau Ma Tei

Police are investigating a traffic accident in Yau Ma Tei this afternoon (August 24) in which an 81-year-old woman was killed.

About 3.45pm, a bus driven by a 54-year-old woman was travelling south along Nathan Road. When it turned into Jordan Road, the bus hit the 81-year-old woman who was crossing the road.

The woman sustained head injuries and was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital where she was certified dead at 4.07pm.

The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and has been detained for further enquiries.

Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon¡@West are under way.
