Traffic Arrangements on Election Day
************************************

Police will implement special traffic arrangements in Kowloon Bay to facilitate the delivery of ballot boxes to the Hong Kong International Trade and Exhibition Centre (HITEC) for the 2008 Legislative Council Election to be held tomorrow (September 7).

The arrangements will come into effect between 10pm tomorrow and 6am on Monday (September 8).

Special traffic arrangements to be implemented are as follows:

Road closures
-------------
(1) Trademart Drive;
(2) Wang Chin Street;
(3) Wang Kee Street; and
(4) A section of Lam Hing Street between Wang Chin Street and Wang Kwong Road

Only permitted vehicles will be allowed entry to these roads. Vehicles seeking services of the petrol filling station at Wang Chin Street may drive in Wang Chin Street from Wang Kwong Road and will be directed to leave immediately after use of the services.

Users of the buildings, who would be affected by the road closures and have genuine need to enter the areas, will be allowed to drive in the closed areas and to park their vehicles inside their building or the two fee-paying car parks delineated by Wang Chin Street (south bound and east bound), Wang Kee Street and Lam Hing Street (west bound).

Suspension of parking spaces
----------------------------

(1) The metered parking spaces for motorcycle and private car at Wang Chin Street (north bound) will be suspended.
(2) The metered parking spaces for motorcycle and the disabled parking space on Trademart Drive (south bound) will be suspended.
(3) The bus parking spaces in Wang Kee Street will be suspended.

Suspension of taxi stand
-----------------------

The taxi stand on Trademart Drive (south bound) will be suspended. Drivers may use the taxi stand on Wang Kwong Road (north bound) outside Kinetic Industrial Centre as an alternative.

Special arrangements of commercial car parks
--------------------------------------------

Other than permitted vehicles, vehicles parking inside the car park of HITEC or the two open car parks delineated by Wang Chin Street (south bound and east bound), Wang Kee Street and Lam Hing Street (west bound) will be allowed exit but not entry.

Motorists are advised to take heed of traffic signs and follow instructions from the Traffic Police at the scene. Any vehicles found illegally parked within the closed areas will be towed away without prior notice.
