Appeal for information on baby body found case

Police are appealing for information on a case in which the body of a baby was found in Sai Kung this afternoon (September 6).

About 1pm, a man found a baby inside a blue plastic bucket placed outside his residence at Kwun Mun Fishermen Village on Hong Kin Road and immediately reported the case to the Police.

Police officers sped to the scene and located the baby inside a black plastic bag in the bucket. The baby, with an umbilical cord, was certified dead at the scene.

Initial examination revealed that the baby was a newborn girl.

A post-mortem will be conducted on Monday (September 8) to ascertain the cause of the baby's death.

Investigations by District Crime Squad of Wong Tai Sin are proceeding.

Police appeal to next-of-kin of the baby girl and members of the public who may have information to offer to contact the investigating officers on 2352 9460.
