Duo arrested for forgery

Police Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) have arrested two men in connection with a forgery case in which somebody has alleged that an insurance corporation is planning to sell its subsidiary company.

Following extensive investigations into the report made by the insurance company yesterday (September 24), CCB officers today (September 25) arrested two men aged 45 and 52 in connection with the case. They will be detained overnight for further enquiries.

Police appeal to members of the public that if they have received the suspected false instrument involving the insurance company or have any information to offer, they should call the CCB hotline on 2860 5012.

According to the Summary Offence Ordinance, any person who sends by any such means any message, which he knows to be false, will be liable to a maximum penalty of $1,000 and to imprisonment for two months while according to the Crimes Ordinance, any person who makes or uses a false instrument will be liable to maximum penalty of 14 years' imprisonment.
