Two men charged with access to computer with dishonest intent

Police tonight (October 2) charged a 34-year-old man and an 18-year-old man each with one count of access to computer with dishonest intent.

Officers of Technology Crime Division (TCD) of Police Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) arrested the 34-year-old man in Shau Kei Wan on September 27 suspected to be in connection with an online message found on a discussion forum appealing people to withdraw deposits from a Hong Kong financial institution and alleging that it would go bank run.

Another 18-year-old man was arrested by CCB officers on September 30 in Kwai Chung suspected to have put an online message on a discussion forum alleging that a Hong Kong financial institution would be closed down.

They will both appear in courts next Monday (October 6). The 34-year-old man will appear in Eastern Magistrates' Courts while the 18-year-old man will appear in Tsuen Wan Magistrates' Courts.
